Learn about the steps in the selection process to become a Zappter!
At Zappts, we are advancing in our mission to be partners with our clients in creating the best digital experiences for users, and to ensure this commitment we have more than tripled (wow!) our team of collaborators in the last year and we continue to grow…
You must be wondering: with all these opportunities, how do I become a Zappter? Come, I’ll tell you! 😉
In this article you will learn about the steps in the selection process (100% remote) at Zappts, and will have very special tips so you can become a Zappter! Let’s go?
1- Profile Alignment
Before we announce the positions, we have a very important internal work for the success of our selection processes, this step we call “Profile alignment”.
This is where we combine the technical expertise of our Stack Innovation Office with Operations knowledge about the project to understand which professional profile best fits this position, what are the main technical and behavioral requirements, and the challenges and assignments the person will face on a daily basis, in addition to agreeing on deadlines, selection process flow and participants.
We also talk about what we can and cannot compromise on during the process, the points we can develop internally, and what is essential for the position.
Once that’s done, let’s do (a lot of) job posting!
2- Applying for positions
All active positions at Zappts are posted on our Careers Page on Gupy, on our LinkedIn and other social networks. Following @zappts on Instagram and our LinkedIn page is a good tip to always stay up to date on new open positions.
In addition to all the external promotion done by the People team, we also share the positions internally so that interested collaborators can apply – and so that everyone can share on their social networks and send referrals!
Now talking about our process in practice from a Recruitment perspective, we have the following steps:
3- Profile screening
This is the moment when we look at the profiles of candidates who applied for the position. Each position has its own application trend, our last internship position, for example, had more than 700 applications!
Another possible and not uncommon situation for those who work with technology is the famous “hunting”, which is when a recruiter actively seeks profiles, and approaches a person on LinkedIn, Telegram, Whatsapp, Skype, among other social networks, without them having applied for the positions, identifying that they have a profile matching what we are looking for and inviting them to participate in the selection process.
The tip here is: keep your LinkedIn profile updated and keep an eye on your inbox, a Zappter may have spotted you. 😉
4- Interviews
Now we move on to scheduling interviews! We contact pre-screened people and start scheduling, this first contact can be made by phone, video call or Whatsapp.
In this step, our team initially focuses on asking some relevant questions about the candidate’s profile, to check compatibility with the position and also to understand if expectations and initial prerequisites are aligned on both sides (the famous match) for us to proceed with the process.
Oh, it’s important to note that here at Zappts one of our values is SAWABONA, which means “I see you, I respect you”, and that’s why our evaluations are not based on comparisons between candidates but rather an assessment of each candidate’s potential.
And that’s why our selection process is alive, meaning the steps are not rigid (neither in order, nor in volume), each process has its particularities.
However, the process follows some important steps to ensure the journey is safe and growth happens with quality, now learn about the interview steps…
4.1 Cultural FIT Interview
This is the time to get to know each other. In this first chat, a recruiter will talk to you individually.
It’s a real chat, no pressure, just relax! We ask for a personal introduction, covering the main challenges in your professional journey and also about who you are outside of work, what you like to do. 😉
This is also the moment to better present our purpose, culture and answer your questions.
In addition to the professional journey, the focus is also to evaluate motivations, career desires and future goals.
It’s important to remember that here at Zappts we use interview scripts based on our values, thus ensuring that we will cover the main points for profile evaluation.
During our conversation we always make a written record, so we can better direct feedback and perform a fair evaluation.
Our People team conducts competency-based interviews, meaning we use situational questions to identify if you have a fit with our culture.
Here the focus is to evaluate if the person demonstrates behaviors and practices that are aligned with our values, namely:
- We care to grow: We care with responsibility and safety about the growth and perpetuity of the business.
- Sawabona: A South African term that means “I see you, I respect you”, it inspires our actions and habits, considering the importance of each individual in our daily lives.
- We achieve results with quality: We are committed to delivering results with a high quality index, using our resources correctly.
- We inspire protagonists: We act as entrepreneurs and encourage the empowerment of each individual.
- Our harmony comes from all voices: We promote a diverse, motivating environment open to receiving opinions.
- Presence that represents: We work towards positive impact, collaborating with the society and community to which we belong.
- We sow transformation: Through our work, we act to deliver important solutions and transformations to society and its future generations.
Got the tips from the Cultural FIT stage? Then let’s go to the next step!
4.2 Technical test
We already talked about how each process has its particularities, right? 😉
The technical test stage is one of the steps in the process that occurs differently for each position, but always aims to measure and evaluate the level of experience and specific technical knowledge for the position.
Your test will be graded and you will receive feedback regarding approval for the next step. Oh, all feedbacks and guidance on next steps are sent through the Gupy platform, ok? 😉
Did well on the technical test? On to the next step!
4.3 Technical Interview
This step is very important so that we can continue achieving results with quality, because here we identify which hard skills (technical knowledge) you master and at what level of proficiency.
At this moment, the technical interviewer may use different tools to evaluate your reasoning, identify potential and areas for development, such as technical cases that bring situational contexts, programming challenges, data analysis or business scenarios, among others, always focusing on measuring technical expertise in that function.
Oh, at this moment you can also clarify your questions about the process, the position, how the day-to-day work is.
So, take advantage!
And here are some very important tips:
- Be in a quiet and peaceful environment during the interview;
- You will need to turn on your Webcam during the interview, if you cannot do this, inform the recruiter to verify the possibility of rescheduling your interview.
- Preferably, to ensure the best experience, you should connect through a computer.
- Use headphones to ensure the privacy of what is being informed to you as a candidate and also to reduce external noise;
- Make sure you have good audio and video quality.
4.4 Final interview or with leadership
Yay, our last step (but not least important, of course)!
This is the time to meet Zappts’ leadership (or part of it). Again, it’s worth emphasizing that our process is alive, remember?
Each position has its particularities, which is why this step is more common in leadership positions.
This is the appropriate time to align expectations and understand the moment and challenges of the project you aim to work on and of Zappts as a whole.
We want to ensure that you have the Zappter way of being, and that you recognize and feel that our culture is a commitment from everyone.
Once that’s done, we discuss with evidence and use all the data recorded during the process for the final decision.
Is it a match? Time for the proposal!
5- Proposal or Feedback
Proposal
The big moment of YES has arrived, here you are almost a Zappter!
In this step, we communicate the approval and present your salary proposal, explain in detail all the benefits and agree on your start date at Zappts.
At this moment we clear up any questions about the admission, and then we formalize everything with a proposal letter sent by email. After that, we are anxious waiting for your acceptance to come be part of this company that inspires protagonists! 😍
Feedback
At Zappts we have a very big focus on #people! At all stages, candidates receive feedback, both positive and negative.
We work on specific positions and maybe the match didn’t happen at this moment or for this position, but we always try to provide feedback that can generate value and we seek to direct the person so that they can improve and evolve.
When the position is closed, all applied candidates receive an email informing them of the process closure.
Oh! And as a tip, we suggest that you update your registration on Gupy, as your resume continues in our database, and we may contact you in the future. It will be great to receive your application again in the next opportunities!
Now that you know all about our process, run to our Careers Page and apply for that position that matches your profile! We are waiting for you! Click here to access!
